Loving This Journey

It has been a pretty good week!  I have been sticking to my tracking pretty well during the week, though I have slacked on the fruits and veggies.  This weekend I watched what I ate, but I didn't track that well.  It's okay though.  I know I can not stop enjoying the things I like.  Yesterday, I went wine tasting.  Normally 1 wine tasting doesn't throw me off too badly.  But, there was a special wine trail going on so we went to 4 wineries.  I half expected to gain tonight, but was happy to find out I didn't.  I was hoping to hit my 10%, but maybe next week!

I need to keep it short, I started teaching summer school today so I have some work to finish up and I need to get to bed early!

Have a good week!

Because It Works

So I slacked last week... I had a friend in town and then the heat just had me feeling beyond lazy!  Last week was a tough week with my house guest and then the heat my eating pattern was out of whack!  But surprisingly it did not have a negative impact.  I ate out a bit while my friend was here, but we did not have as many meals and I was pretty mindful about what I was eating.  I honestly expected a gain this past Monday, but was happily surprised that it was just the opposite!  I am very close to seeing my 10% goal (2.2 pounds away!!!).  I am sort of seeing it in my clothes.  My pants are loose but I can not go  down a size yet.  My tops are baggy.  It is a nice feeling for sure!  I still have quite a bit to lose, but I am taking it one goal at a time.  Hopefully I will be achieving my first 10% goal very soon!  Starting Monday, I will be back to a somewhat normal schedule because summer school starts.  I think it will make it easier to track and eat meals at a normal time.  :)

Week 8 & 9

Oh terrible me..... things have been crazy and I have been forgetful!  Between painting my living room and kitchen, and preparing for company... I have been a busy, busy girl!  Well Week 8 showed my first gain.  I was not feeling well that evening so that may have been part of it but regardless, I handled the gain like a champ!  Week 9 brought another loss for me, bring me closer and closer to my 10% goal.  I am only 5.4 lbs from that goal!  Woohoo!  I am going to keep it short and sweet because I am making dinner!  :)

Week 7

I finally made it back to my regular meeting!  I was by my lonesome tonight though, but that is okay.... I decided to stay anyways.  I am glad I did.  I participated a lot in tonights meeting, which is very unlike me.  I figured most people were being quiet, I might as well speak up.  I ended up having a woman asking me different questions, and I was proud that I could answer her.  I had another successful weigh-in, but I go in not expecting much of a loss.  I know I will come to a point when the numbers get smaller or the fluctuate and I keep trying to mentally prepare myself for that.  It is hard when I keep seeing such great numbers though.  I have lost a total of 17.4 pounds sine April 23rd.  I have not really noticed the change though.  My "big girl" pants still fit, and my old pants (just the next size down) are still too tight.  I think I have noticed some change in my face, which would not surprise me since that is the last place I gained the weight.  Plus, my bras are fitting better.  I had gained weight along my chest, which made my bras tight.  So I am seeing some changes but I do know it will take time.  I am 7.6 pounds away from my 10% goal, which will bring me down to the weight I was last July.

My goal this week is to eat more fruits and vegetables, along with other power foods.  I havent had as many of them these last 2 weeks.  It was one of the focuses during out meeting tonight.  I did notice when I ate power foods, that I felt better and more energized.  Though right now with school finishing up, I do not think all the power foods in the world could give me the energy I need to get through this week!  LOL

Week 5 & 6

Yikes!  I can not believe I missed a weekly update!  Well I thought about it over the weekend, BUT my internet was down!  LAME!  So last week I did alright:

Week 5

Beginning Weight:  253.4
Current Weight:  241.4
Weight Loss:  12

But this week I leaped over my 5% goal by 2.1 pounds.  I only needed .5 pounds to make it to my 5%. I feel the reason I did not lose as much weight last week (I lost a pound) was because I did not use any of my activity points or extra points.  I was determined to do better this week so I made sure I used some of them (not all though... usually about half seems to work well for me).  I am VERY happy with my progress!  Things have been stressful trying to get all the end of the year things done for school, but I do not take it out by eating food.  Here is to another great week!  Hopefully I will remember to update on Monday when I finally go back to my regular meeting!

Quick & Easy Breakfast

I am all about a quick and easy breakfast.  Who has time in the morning to make breakfast?  Well, there is no excuse!  Hungry Girl has a great variation of recipes for Eggs in a Mug!  This morning I made "the classic"

The Easiest Egg Breakfast Ever...

The Egg Mug Classic
PER SERVING (entire mug): 95 calories, 2g fat, 490mg sodium, 3g carbs, 0g fiber, 2g sugars, 14.5g protein -- PointsPlus® value 2*

Ingredients:
1/2 cup fat-free liquid egg substitute (likeEgg Beaters Original)
One wedge The Laughing Cow Light Original Swiss cheese, cut into pieces

Directions:
Spray a large microwave-safe mug lightly with nonstick spray. Add egg substitute and cheese and stir. Microwave for about a minute. Stir gently, and then microwave for another 30 - 45 seconds, until scramble is just set. Stir and enjoy!

I did add a little more to this recipe.  I used egg white liquid egg, one wedge of Weight Watchers Parmesan Peppercorn Cheese Wedge, and 1 Mini Babybel Cheese.  This totaled only 4 points!  Have a nice 2 point smoothie, and what a filling breakfast!

Enjoy!

Loving Life!

love, LOVE, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVING life right now :)  Doing well with the weight loss, and just life in general.  Over the weekend I got out of a relationship in which I was no longer feeling happy.  I am proud of myself for having the courage to do so, I realized I can no longer be with someone who I am not happy with.  I am a very happy and bubbly person and I have not been myself for a while now.  I am proud to say that even through the breakup, I maintained my points.  I did not feel the urge to eat everything in sight!  I told myself that no man is worth me ruining the progress I have already made.  This week I had another great weigh-in.... Next week my goal is to hit my 5% (1.5 more pounds).  I am motivated to do it, but I do know that if I do not hit that goal that I will not be defeated.  There will come a point I will not hit these high numbers I have been getting (3.8, 2, 2.8, & 2.4).  I have mentally prepared myself for that point in time.

Tonight I decided to tell a good friend of mine about my weight loss journey.  I was originally planning to surprise her the next time I see her (August?!?!), but I had to tell her the news.  She is someone I share everything with and since we finally stopped our 2 month old game of phone tag tonight, I had a lot to fill her in on.  She was beyond thrilled with my decision.  I am so happy to have such great friends and family supporting me!  They are the bestest, EVER!  <3

I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

I must say... I have such a GREAT support system.  The majority of the people in my life are extremely supportive of me and my weight loss journey, especially the one friend who has inspired me to begin the journey.  She has helped me with ideas to change up the menu, and has left her door open for me to ask endless amounts of questions.  She is one of the reasons I have been successful thus far!  At weigh-ins tonight, I loss another 2.8 pounds!  I was surprised with my weight loss this week because I did encounter some struggles, but I stayed within my points.  I did use some of my extra points this week and apparently that actually helps!!!  I still have a long ways to go, but I am take it little by little!

Another Week Completed!

I am down 2 more pounds!  I am starting to get a little more creative with how I am using all of my points.  I want to get the most out of my points so I really watch what I am "spending" my points on!  :)  Obviously I have not lost enough to see a physical difference,  but I do find myself happier.  I am eating better foods that leave me feeling better about what I am consuming.  My next goal is to do more activities.... walking, bike riding, etc.

Week 1: Completed!

My first week on Weight Watchers has been awesome!  I had hit a little trouble Saturday at work.  I work around tons of fried crap at my second job (stadium food).  I should have brought more veggies and fruits to munch on since none of that is available down there.... but it was a little late when I noticed.  I did eat a bit of the buttery popcorn, but luckily I had enough activity points to cover that.  Otherwise, I have been very motivated to work hard and stay on the right track.  I am very happy with my results of my first full week!

Positive Attitude

It has only been 3 days, but so far I am truly loving Weight Watchers. Instead of eating all that crap that leaves me feeling hungry, I am eating better and feel full before eating all my points.  I feel like I have more energy because I am eating more fruits and vegetables.  I do need to work on the exercising portion, but I do not want to make too many changes at once.  I do not want to do too many changes at once, I want to make sure I am successful in this journey.  I am happy with how things are proceeding so far.  I know I will have my ups and my downs, but that is part of the journey.  I have some very supportive people in my life right now, and that is key.  I am doing this for me, and no one else.... but it is nice to know that I have people I can lean on when I need them.

The Start of the New Me....

Tonight I attended my first Weight Watchers meeting.  I have decided that I can not keep living this unhealthy lifestyle.  I am only 26 years old, yet I have been experiencing back problems, other aches and pains, and shortness of breath in doing the smallest things.  I am too young for all that!  I decided to join Weight Watchers because I know a few people who have been successful with the program.  I've read about it, and it is really more of teaching you how to eat healthy unlike all those other programs that send you food.  How is that going to help you kick your unhealthy habits if you are not doing any of the leg work?  Weight Watchers will help me in my goal to be healthy.  I was beyond shocked during my first weigh in tonight.  I knew I had gained weight since my last doctors appointment (July 2011), but 23 pounds?!  It still has me kind of shocked, but I am using that to give me even more motivation.  I am using this blog to track my progress in this journey and I hope to use it as motivation to keep going until I reach my goal.
